Why is the tip smaller than I expected?

tipstir calculates the tip on the bill before tax. If your bill is $147.28 with 7% sales tax and you choose 15%, the tip is 15% of $147.28, not of the taxed total. The tax is still added to what you owe, it is just not tipped on.

How does Round it work?

Round it takes each person's share to the nearest whole dollar and works backwards from there, adjusting the tip to match. It then shows you the tip percentage that rounding produced, so you can see whether you have gone up or down. Tapping the button again resets the check.

How do I change my three tip percentages?

Open the menu at the top right of the main screen, then set Tip Percentage 1, 2 and 3 to whatever you like. They are saved on your iPhone and are there next time you open the app.

I paid to remove ads and they came back.

Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. This is the normal step after reinstalling the app or setting up a new iPhone. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with. If the banner is still there afterwards, email us the date of purchase and we will sort it out.

Can I split by more than a handful of people?

Yes. Use the plus button to raise the headcount as high as you need. Every figure on the screen splits with it.

Does tipstir need an internet connection?

The calculator works entirely offline. A connection is only used to load the ad banner and to process a purchase.
